Joules is a premium lifestyle fashion brand based in Market Harborough. Being committed to sustainability, ethical trading and supporting local businesses, they were keen to look at all avenues to reduce their carbon footprint.
Two of Green Shoots’ electric vans were used to transport clothes from their main Distribution Centre in Corby to 13 stores within a 75-mile radius, as well as transferring and returning their stock.
Despite this being just a very small part of their national and international operation, within two years Green Shoots had saved them over 24 tonnes of carbon emissions!

Our very first client was Edible16. Set up by Waterloo Cottage Farm (a family-owned farm committed to sustainable and ethical farming practices) and Pearman’s Farm (a local market garden growing a range of chemical free seasonal vegetables and fruits), Edible16 collaborates with other local food and drink producers who follow organic principles.
In keeping with their environmentally focused ethic, Green Shoots deliver their products emission free to customers throughout Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Environmentally-challenged businesses
Many businesses are, by their very nature, not particularly environmentally friendly.
However, we work with companies who recognise that and are looking at ways to mitigate and reduce their carbon footprint.
Leicester-based IntoPrint specialise in printing services. They have evolved from being a small company with a solvent printer and vinyl cutter, to an award-winning team with the latest technology. Working with various media, they provide bespoke work for many sectors ranging from retail branding to commercial graphics to events and exhibitions.
Having recognised their need to be more sustainable, IntoPrint started using Green Shoots' electric vans to deliver to their customers within a 20-mile radius and, within just nine months, have saved over 2 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Charities
Green Shoots are proud and excited to be working with an amazing charity - Life Cycle.
Members of the public donate their unwanted bikes to the Life Cycle Hub in Derby – in all states of disrepair – who then send them, using Green Shoots, to their Bikes Beyond Bars Project a professional bike workshop inside Leicester’s newly opened prison, HMP Fosse Way.
The prisoners are taught by professionals how to break down, mend and completely rebuild these bikes, then the ‘as good as new’ versions are returned to Derby for sale to the public, with all profits going to their registered charity.
This is a classic ‘win-win-win’ scenario:
- Disused bikes are diverted from going to landfill
- Prisoners learn practical new skills and achieve industry-recognised qualifications that can get them jobs when they have served their sentence
- The public get superb second-hand bikes at fantastic prices knowing their purchase is making a significant difference to individuals and wider communities alike.
